TECHNICAL PROPOSAL WRITER AND MARKETING PROFESSIONAL

With offices located in 14 states across the United States, Brierley Associates is a recognized leader in the design of tunnels, trenchless installations, shafts, underground structures, excavation and slope support systems.  We are seeking a full-time creative, motivated, detail-oriented Marketing Professional/Technical Proposal Writer with remarkable organizational skills.

Preferred candidates will possess:

  • 5 to 10-years as a marketing professional/proposal coordinator/ technical writer working for a heavy civil design or construction company;
  • Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office Suite, especially PowerPoint, with a good sense of graphics layout;
  • Exceptional interpersonal and team communication skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be ambitious about producing high quality proposals and qualifications under tight deadline conditions, for projects across the US;
  • Must be able to work efficiently, remotely, and collaboratively with staff located across various Brierley Associates offices, and with clients across the US, when preparing proposal documents.
  • Travel may be required for meetings, team proposal workshops, conference attendance and/or other business-related functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Marketing Director in Syracuse and work across all Brierley Associates offices
  • Opportunity tracking and first cut Go/No-Go
  • Market research
  • Quarterly newsletter development
  • Resume maintenance and SF 330 form preparation
  • Writing qualifications sections of proposals, and assembling proposal documents
  • Provide storyboarding and message development for pursuits, presentations, and external and internal communication
  • Assist in keeping Project Descriptions and Qualifications organized and up to date
  • Conference / sponsorship coordination across all offices

GIS ANALYST

Brierley Associates, a nationally recognized leader in abandoned mine lands mitigation and design of tunnels, shafts and underground structures is seeking a Full Time GIS Analyst.

Under direct supervision from the Senior GIS Analyst, the successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of our GIS databases. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, geologists, project managers, CAD technicians and others to produce superior quality reports and maps.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce daily figures and reports for mine grouting projects
  • Maintain several geodatabases  utilized by our ongoing Abandoned Mine Lands (AML) work
  • Troubleshoot spatial data problems and offer solutions
  • Participate in GPS data collection and post processing
  • Handle all aspects of spatial analysis and geodatabase maintenance
  • Assist with report presentation including map design and other tasks
  • Establish QA/QC procedures and techniques, and performs technical QA/QC of data
  • Troubleshoot GIS application problems
  • Use critical thinking and logic to solve problems
  • Perform other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in geography, planning, geology, or engineering
  • Two years progressive experience in GIS
  • Strong working knowledge of ArcGIS
  • Ability to work within a collaborative team environment, problem solve and work independently
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Detail-oriented and able to follow complex workflows
  • Work flexible schedules and overtime to complete time sensitive deadlines
  • Enjoys field work using GPS and assist with drone missions to acquire high resolution imagery
  • Possession of valid FAA Remote Pilot Certificate is a plus.

TUNNEL, GEO-STRUCTURAL DESIGN AND TRENCHLESS ENGINEERING OPPORTUNITY

Brierley Associates, a recognized leader in the design of tunnels, shafts, underground structures, excavation and slope support systems, and trenchless installations, is seeking a geo-structural engineer to join our Hawaii operations.  Preferred candidates would include civil/structural engineers with local experience in specific structural and/or geotechnical work, and existing experience compatible with the delivery of design work for large diameter tunnels and shafts in soft ground and rock; geo-structural design for heavy civil work such as excavation support, deep foundations, heavy lifts, falsework and custom formwork; and design/construction of HDD and microtunneling operations.  Candidates should possess a HI PE license (SE preferred), BS (MS preferred) in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geological Engineering, or closely related engineering field, demonstrated design and construction experience, and entrepreneurial motivation to succeed and ultimately help lead the office.

  • Tunnel Engineer – Houston and/or Austin – The successful candidate would possess specific design/construction expertise of large diameter tunnels and shafts in rock and soft ground.
  • Trenchless Engineer – Houston – The successful candidate would possess specific design/construction expertise of HDD and microtunneling operations.
  • Geo-Structural Engineer – Austin – The successful candidate would possess specific design/construction expertise of heavy civil work such as excavation support, deep foundations, heavy lifts, falsework and custom formwork.

GEOSTRUCTURAL ENGINEER

Brierley Associates, a nationally recognized leader in the design of tunnels, shafts, underground structures, and excavation support systems is seeking qualified candidates to join our team as an Entry Level Staff Engineer in our Moraga, CA office.

Candidates must possess a BS degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.

Candidates must be highly motivated and possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. The ability to multi-task and work under strict deadlines is essential.

Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluation of geotechnical design parameters
  • Analysis and design of steel, reinforced concrete, and wood structures
  • Foundation design
  • Layout and detailing of engineering drawings – Experience with CAD/BIM and Civil 3D a plus
  • Construction site visits to monitor progress and other elements of contract documents
  • Assist in client communications
  • Prepare design computations and quantity estimates
  • Assist in the preparation or modification of reports, specifications, and plans

Occasional travel to project sites should be expected.

A valid driver’s license and a reliable means of transportation is required.
