Breakthroughs in Tunneling Short Course Coming to University of Denver September 13-15

Bill Zietlow, Ike Isaacson, and Nick Strater are all featured speakers at the Short Course. They will be presenting the following:
  • Geotechnical Data Reports: Nick Strater will be providing an overview of GDR development, and their place in the Contract Documents.
  • Geotechnical Baseline Reports: Ike Isaacson will be talking about the GBR and how it relates to, builds upon, and differs from the GDR. He will be covering GBR topics such as its origin and purpose in underground projects, place in the contract documents and risk management, the overall philosophy on what it should contain, the work that goes into one, the basics of writing the document, and the risks and pitfalls that designers and contractors should be aware of related to this critical document. He will also discuss this document being the basis for differing site conditions claims.
  • Tunneling in Difficult Ground: Bill Zietlow will discuss the challenges of the Jefferson Barracks project, the karst features encountered, and what they did to rescue the stalled TBM, as discussed in the above article.
