Creating Space Underground

JUNE 2015

Eric Lindquist, PhD, PE

Director of Engineering

The 181 Fremont Tower is a new mixed-use tower, currently under construction in the dense urban core of San Francisco.

This high-rise will consist of 54 floors above ground and will top out at a height of more than 800 feet, which will make it the second tallest building in San Francisco. Brierley Associates was retained by Jay Paul Company, the project's developer.

NEW TO THE DENVER OFFICE Mohamed Gamal's career of 25 years spans the spectrum of geotechnical, structural, transportation and mining engineering. Dr. Gamal's experience includes computational studies, 2D and 3D finite element analysis and modeling with focus on applications in civil engineering, slope and retaining wall stability, deep foundations, underground excavations, ground movement behavior and other geo-mechanic analyses. Dr. Gamal is involved with mine subsidence studies and assessment of subsidence risk to determine necessary mitigation measures for structures near or above mine workings.

Director of Engineering in computer power and the development of ever more complex numerical analysis and three-dimensional visualization tools are consistently increasing the expectations for engineering design deliverables. At Brierley Associates we believe these technical advances, in the absence of the ability to  effectively interpret, verify, and communicate the output generated by complicated software does not benefit our industry. Brierley Associates' goal in utilizing these evolving tools in the service of our clients is to do so in a well-documented, transparent fashion. For this reason, the technical growth of our younger staff is always accompanied by, equally-important, on-the-job training in both oral and written communication, together with the expectation that complex analysis results be substantiated by alternate means. As a result, we are confident we are developing well-rounded engineers and geologists that will not only be capable of responsibly delivering complex projects to our clients, but also future leaders in our industry as we...Create Space Underground.
