Brierley Associates is a sponsor of the upcoming Auger Boring School to be held February 13-17, at Louisiana Tech University, Ruston, LA. This annual educational event is a joint effort between the Trenchless Technology Center (TTC) at Louisiana Tech and the National Utility Contractors Association (NUCA). Its purpose is to educate contractors, engineers, managers, foremen, public utility personnel, etc. about this trenchless construction method.Brierley Associates’ Senior Consultant, Brian Dorwart is a member of the Auger Boring School Steering Committee and along with Nick Strater – Brierley’s Trenchless Design Lead will be attending and instructing courses at this year’s school.

Brian Dorwart is a registered Professional Geologist and Professional Engineer in 18 states. Brian has more than 30 years of experience in the construction and engineering. He specializes in subsurface characterization, design, cost analysis, construction management, forensics and deployment of various trenchless methods such as auger boring, horizontal directional drilling, pipe bursting. Brian has served as technical expert to contractors and owners for claim negotiation and remediation for geotechnical and geological projects and as an expert consultant.
Nick Strater’s career spans more than 20 years and he specializes in all manner of trenchless technologies. His experience covers a broad range of services areas including: geotechnical site characterization; feasibility and design studies; detailed design studies; preparation of contract documents; construction phase services; and claims analysis and evaluation. Nick currently serves on ASCE technical committees tasked with developing manuals of practice for auger boring, and pilot tube microtunneling.
